Dye sublimation requires 100% polyester fabric to work. During the heat press process, sublimation ink converts from a solid to a gas and permanently bonds with polyester fibers at a molecular level. This is why polyester content is critical—the higher the polyester percentage, the more vibrant and durable the print. Cotton and blended fabrics cannot absorb sublimation ink, resulting in faded or washed-out prints.
